Bones of leg

The anatomical term "leg" refers to the middle part of the free lower extremity located between the thigh and the foot. It extends from the knee joint to the ankle joint and is also sometimes called the lower leg.

The skeleton of the leg is composed of two parallel lying bones - tibia and fibula. Between both bones is a space called the crural interosseous space that contains the crural interosseous membrane.
