OriginIncisive fossa of maxilla
InsertionNasal septum, posterior aspect of alar part of nasalis
ActionDepresses nasal septum, pulls ala of nose downward, constricts aperture of nostril
Innervation Buccal branch of facial nerve

Action

Upon contraction, the depressor septi nasi depresses the nasal septum and pulls the wing of the nose downward, constricting the aperture of the nostril. It works similarly as the alar part of the nasalis muscle.
