Inferior phrenic arteries

The inferior phrenic arteries (Latin: arteriae phrenicae inferiores) are two small posterior branches of the abdominal aorta that supply the diaphragm. These arteries present much variety in their origin. Usually, the inferior phrenic arteries arise directly from the abdominal aorta as a common trunk immediately below the aortic hiatus of the diaphragm, or they may arise from the base of the celiac trunk. The inferior phrenic arteries pass upward, provide some arterial supply to the adrenal glands, and continue onto the inferior surface of the diaphragm.
