The psoas minor (also psoas minor muscle, latin: musculus psoas minor) is a long, slim skeletal muscle lying anterior to the psoas major muscle. The psoas minor along with the iliopsoas belongs to the anterior group of the pelvic muscles.
The psoas minor originates from the lateral surface of the twelfth thoracic (T12) and first lumbar (L1) vertebrae.
The psoas minor inserts on the iliopubic eminence.
The functions of psoas minor include stabilizing the pelvis and the hip joint, and providing flexion of the trunk.
The psoas minor is innervated by the muscular branches of the lumbar plexus.
